The opportunity for global corporate branding and
marketing is enormous. In 1999/2000 there were over 150 corporate
brands involved in premier level sponsorship and a further 250 supplier
sponsors supporting teams at this premier level. This time for the
races that are listed in this prospectus, these events will attract
even more TV and media coverage and audience, as the value associated
with and the exposure gained from these events grows each year.
PLANNING VISION
Lee Gallacher’s ‘planning vision’ is to ultimately
raise the profile for disabled sport and he sees Challenge Sailing
Team as the platform for future success. The campaign cost is estimated
at €7m plus the value of goods and services in kind. By investing
everything he has physically, emotionally and financially in the
‘building blocks’ he will ensure that the entry into
the initial races becomes a reality for disabled sailors and sports
people around the world.
Realising this ambition cannot be achieved without meticulous and
detailed logistical planning, together with the Team, Lee is working
with Business partners covering legal, Eric Robinson Solicitors,
accountability Ray Khan Associates, Design and technical Mills Design
Ltd and LeePeckGreenfield for public relations.
SPONSORSHIP STRATERGY
Challenge Sailing Team needs to attract partners and sponsors for
three reasons:
1. to raise awareness of Challenge Sailing Team, its partners and
the races in which we intend to enter inside and outside of Great
Britain by adding the weight and reputation of high profile global
corporate brands
2. to divide the campaign costs of €7m in a ratio between
the investors from commercial partners. Achievement of this will
ensure continuity into the next campaign and enable all the teamwork
and team building blocks to be carried forward with maximum brand
awareness and visibility for each partner sponsor over the minimum
5 year period.
3. to share the real commercial opportunity that offshore yacht
racing involvement offers. Having a team in these premier level
events enables access for company and country to international ABC1
clients/tourists.
A DEDICATED TEAM AND TAILORED PACKAGES.
The Partner, Sponsorship and Marketing Team is led by Anja Dhanis
and Iain Thom of Eric Robinson Solicitors. Seeking commercial support
is paramount to the success of the challenge both for this campaign
and those of the future for disabled and abled sailors. A detailed
partnership, sponsorship, supplier and supporter package has been
developed across various levels to allow companies and individuals
to show their support in a manner which suits their desired exposure
and budgetary objectives.
VALUE AND BENEFITS FOR PARTNERS
For partners, Challenge Sailing Team offers such benefits as global
brand exposure, customer and employee marketing incentive programmes,
branding and visibility on the boats, sails, support vessels and
equipment, product endorsements by the team, use of imagery and
video footage, access to supporters club databases, exposure on
signage, websites, literature, widespread international press, media
and TV coverage.
ON THE WATER INVOLVEMENT
One of the most valued benefits for partners/sponsors is the opportunity
for on-the-water viewing and interaction in the beginning and end
of the races. Challenge Sailing Team offers partners and sponsors
a full networking and corporate hospitality package with the facility
to entertain groups of clients, staff, VIP, guests onboard a variation
of different vessels with live commentary for race viewing with
catering packages to suit all needs.
